Children's Time

    1/7

    Family and Children's Ministry

Children are welcome here. Really welcome.

You do not need to get your children perfectly quiet, perfectly still, or perfectly trained before

bringing them to worship. Teaching children to worship is a process, and that process is rarely

silent or still. We will likely be more patient with your children than you are.

We love families because God has always worked covenantally, gathering His people and calling

one generation to teach the next. We want Christian homes to flourish, but we also know that

families come in many circumstances. If you feel like you do not have a family, then borrow one

of ours… or simply join the church family. That is fine too.

As much as possible, we want families to remain together during Sunday worship. You already

spend much of the week apart. We do not want to divide you when the church gathers.

We want your children to hear you sing about Jesus. We want them to see you open God’s

Word, confess sin, pray, rejoice, grieve, listen to the preaching, and watch the Lord’s Supper. We

want them to ask you questions. We want them to learn, little by little, the joyful and orderly

worship of God. We want them in the worship service the as much as possible!

Parents are responsible for guiding their children during worship, but you are not alone. The

whole church is here to help you. No one will glare at you because your baby cries, your toddler

wiggles, or your child forgets to whisper as they ask, “Is it over now? I need to go to the

bathroom, and what is for lunch?”

Pastor Tyler’s children get noisy too. When that happens, Ashley may take them to the

multipurpose room, help them settle, and return with them as soon as possible. Sometimes she

gets overwhelmed and needs to ask for help from another family. You are welcome to do the

same. Stepping out for a few minutes is not failure, and returning is always encouraged.

During the service, we invite the children to come forward for a special time of instruction.

Parents are welcome to come with them. Do not be shy. Each week, we also provide Grace Around the Table, a simple guide designed to help families talk about the sermon, open the Scriptures, and pray together at home. Children may not understand everything they hear in worship, but they understand more than we often think.

Our desire is to help parents continue that conversation throughout the week.

Bring your children. Bring the noise. Bring the struggle. Ask for help.

We will worship, learn, and grow together.
